The Matamoros Children's Home Started Its Work In Early 1967...

When Missionaries Bernard and Freda Yandow moved to Matamoros, Mexico. As they served a handful of orphans in a colonia located in the outskirts of Matamoros, they started looking for assistance from Baptist Churches in Texas for support and development of this ministry.

It was in 1971 that the Matamoros Children's Home moved its operations to the present location. In one single building that housed 15 boys and girls the Yandow's continued to serve orphans, neglected and abused children. With the support of Baptist churches, four more dormitories were built to house 10 children and a set of house parents each.

Today, Dr. Saul Camacho lives at the Home with his wife Maria. They have three daughters and 206 other children they call their own... Dr. Camacho is a medical doctor and administrates the work at the on-site Medical Clinic as well as being the director ofå the Children's Home.

Saul and Maria grew up at the Children's Home. Later, Dr. Camacho graduated as a medical doctor in Mexico City. After several years he resigned from his hospital position and medical practice, to answer God's calling to serve as director of the Matamoros Children's Home. In 1986, Dr. Camacho became the 4th director of Children's Home.

Their work is aided by house parents for each of the cottages that currently house more than 150 children.
