Matamoros Children's Home also known as, MCH, provides a FAMILY environment to every child that walks through the front gates of the orphanage.
Dr. Saul and Maria Camacho have redefined what children’s care can look like by focusing on what truly matters—family, stability, and opportunity. Matamoros Children’s Home is not a traditional orphanage. It is made up of individual family-style homes, each with committed house parents (husband and wife) who lovingly care for either ten boys or ten girls. Children range from ages 3 to 19 and attend public schools from kindergarten through high school. Many of these children continue their education beyond high school, with a strong percentage going on to college.
In addition to academics, children are taught responsibility and life skills through daily chores and structured training. Boys receive hands-on instruction in practical trades such as carpentry, electrical work, auto mechanics, plumbing, and welding, as well as experience in raising farm animals and growing vegetables for their own consumption. Girls are trained in skills including embroidery, sewing, weaving, healthcare, and cooking while assisting with daily food preparation. Together, these programs help equip each child with the skills, discipline, and confidence needed for a successful future.
It is the Camacho's goal to increase the family to 300 children in the future.
The Home is more than just an orphanage, it is FAMILY, it is COMMUNITY.
